Records - Probate
A ll
records which relate to the disposition of an estate after its owner's
death are referred to as probate records. These are many and varied in
both content and value but, basically, they fall into two main classes .
. . If a person died leaving a valid will we say he died testate, if not
he died intestate. In most localities in America these records comprise,
as a group, one of the most useful genealogical resources available.

Notes:
1.
The New Orleans
Public Library online index was used to discover the docket number, 37522, for
the succession of Anton Buhler. The FHL catalog was then searched and the
corresponding film number 581292 was ordered. This film ends with Docket No.
37511. The NOPL staff checked their copy of the microfilm and found that film
number 591292 ends with docket 37511 not 37571. The NOPL staff found Docket
number 37522 for Anton Buhler on the next film, number 581293. There is an error
in the FHL catalog.
