The apparent immigrant ancestor of the Lusignan family is Etienne Lusignan. Etienne, a native of Bergerac, Dept. of Dordogne in France, married&nbsp;Modeste Clairteau on Sep 14, 1829. (Archdiocese of New Orleans, Sacramental Records, Volume 18, 1828-1829, page 257)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 1830 census, Etienne is enumerated in Orleans Parish. In 1840 he is counted in Lafourche Parish. The Lusignan family left behind a legacy in Thibodaux, Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210515113037\/http:\/www.buhler-family.net\/ChurchRecords\/ChurchRecords.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Church&nbsp;<\/a>and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210515113037\/http:\/www.buhler-family.net\/VitalRecords\/VitalRecords.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">courthouse&nbsp;<\/a>records from Lafourche Parish&nbsp;help place the Lusignans into&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210515113037\/http:\/www.buhler-family.net\/FamilyCharts\/Charts\/EtienneLusignan.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">family charts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/collections\/chronicling-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chronicling America&nbsp;<\/a>is a website providing access to information about historic newspapers and select digitized newspaper pages, and is produced by the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP). The Weekly Thibodaux Sentinel (English) and the Sentinelle de Thibodaux (French) was published&nbsp;between 1898 and 1905. Lusignan vs Widow Edouar Doucet.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/resource\/sn88064492\/1878-07-20\/ed-1\/?sp=1&amp;q=Lusignan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Sale of Land<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jean Clovis Lusignan (1861-1924), was the son of Jean Baptiste Lusignan, grandson of Etienne Lusignan. Clovis married&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/buhlermaplibrary.sirv.com\/Genealogy\/Photo_MyrtilliaEstivenne_01.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Myrtillia Estivenne<\/a>.&nbsp;Clovis\u2019 daughter, Aline Florence, married George Henry Buhler.&nbsp;My father, George Lawrence Buhler, son of George H and Florence,&nbsp;once commented that his mother\u2019s family had owned and operated a \u201csoft drink\u201d business in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Thibodaux, La.). More&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/resource\/sn88064490\/1903-11-07\/ed-1\/?sp=3&amp;q=American+Bottling+Work&amp;r=-0.127,0.684,1.128,0.546,0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lusignan &amp; Sposito (Clovis Lusignan and Victor Sposito), doing business as American Bottling Works, registered the trademark of \u201cA.B.C. Thibodaux, LA.\u201d in 1902.&nbsp;&nbsp;American Bottling Works was engaged in the manufacturing, bottling, boxing, shipping, selling and delivering seltzer, mineral waters and pop. Here are two examples of \u201cA.B.C. Thibodaux LA Registered\u201d bottles in the possession of George L. Buhler Jr. The example on the left is a blob-top bottle. This type of bottle was closed with a \u201cHutchinson\u2019s Patent Spring Stopper\u201d used between 1879 and WWI. The bottle on the right is a crown top example that came into use in 1892. Throughout 1903, American Bottling Works ran advertisements in the Thibodaux Sentinel soliciting orders at 60 cents for 2 dozen bottles or $1.20 for 4 dozen bottles. New Orleans, Louisiana.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Charles Frederick Lusignan,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/resource\/sn88064020\/1919-01-16\/ed-1\/?sp=1&amp;q=Lusignan&amp;r=-0.965,-0.042,2.931,1.419,0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">obituary<\/a>.&nbsp;Charles birth record gives his name as Charles Fidelice Luzignan .&nbsp;&nbsp;Charles was the son of Jean Baptiste Lusignan, brother&nbsp;of Clovis B. Lusignan and the&nbsp;uncle of Florence Lusignan, wife of George Henry Buhler. Charles\u2019 birth year and place agrees with the linked obituary.
